A screw is one of the six simple machines. Some historians credit a Greek mathematician and philosopher named Archytas (400 B.C.) with the invention of the screw.

From November 8 through November 23, 2013, Simple Machine proudly presents Henry James ' The Turn of the Screw, adapted for the stage by Jeffrey Hatcher and directed by M. Bevin O'Gara.

Another chapter is “What is a Screw?” The final chapter, “Put it All Together,” ties in content from previous chapters and shows how simple parts can be assembled to create a complex machine.
